7-7-07

Hey, it is the luckiest day of the year or the century or millennium, whatever your fancy is.

You can be lucky in love, lucky at the craps table, lucky to be alive and Lucky Louie. Luck can also be a crutch for those who are losers (Little Miss Sunshine), luck be a lady tonight or Lucky Louie.

You can create your own luck through hard work. You can roll dice for luck. You can tap on wood to preserve your luck. You can find a four-leaf clover for luck. You can get a rabbit's foot on your keychain or a horseshoe to nail above your door for luck.

"Do you feel lucky, punk?!?" You can run out of luck, but you can't buy luck. You simply must have it, because luck can get you by when the going gets tough.

"Shallow men believe in luck." (Emerson) It is a hope and a dream, but luck finds those who catch a leprechaun's coattails near the rainbow. We all covet it, but no one will admit to having it when things are going well.

You've kissed a Blarney rock for luck. You've tossed spilled salt over your shoulder to keep from losing luck. You've even counted your steps to keep luck from falling through the cracks in the sidewalk that can "break your mother's back."

People are getting married on this day to bring good luck to their marriages. Some people will wait in line for hours to be blessed by a newly ordained Catholic priest, because in Catholic luck, his strength in spirit and prayer is the strongest when he young in priesthood. Others will just act as if nothing special will come from the day, except to scratch an extra lottery ticket or three - just in case.

You know you've thought about it. It comes once in a century and it'll never be here again in our lifetime. This might be the day to go out and do something to cash in on the luckiest day of the year. This is your lucky day...

Good luck.
